Our Story

The Belgian Press is a boutique waffle, crêpe, and heritage bakery trailer bringing a taste of the European countryside to Tuttle, Oklahoma. We blend European tradition with Oklahoma warmth, offering a charming, slow‑paced space where guests can savor handcrafted food and linger a little longer.

Everything we serve is crafted entirely from scratch in‑house. Our fresh, made‑to‑order waffles and delicate crêpes are complemented by our own house‑made sauces, fruit compotes, whipped creams, and European‑style pastry creams, curds, and custards. Our pastries and baked goods are created fully in‑house as well, made from our own doughs and finished with the same signature components that define our waffle and crêpe menu. Nothing is pre‑made or purchased from commercial bakeries — every element reflects our commitment to heritage craft and honest ingredients.

Guests can enjoy their food at our covered outdoor seating, a welcoming space designed for friends and families to sit down, savor each bite, and enjoy the slow‑paced atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for a quiet morning treat or sharing something indulgent with loved ones, The Belgian Press offers a cozy escape where European tradition meets local comfort.

The Belgian Press was born from a season of rebuilding, resilience, and rediscovery. After decades spent caring for others, surviving hardship, and navigating the demands of the medical field, I found myself searching for something that felt truly mine. Baking brought me back to myself — first through farmers markets, then through the dream of creating a space where people could slow down, enjoy something warm and crafted, and feel cared for.

With the support of my husband, Ken, and the encouragement of my family, The Belgian Press grew from a simple idea into a fully realized heritage bakery trailer. Every waffle, every crêpe, every pastry, and every drink reflects the quiet strength, intention, and joy that shaped its beginning.

Today, The Belgian Press stands as a celebration of craft, comfort, and community — a place to savor slowly, linger longer, and enjoy the life we build one warm bite at a time.

A Quiet Moment: The Heart of The Baker

Turning Fifty and Finding Stillness

Turning fifty brought a welcome sense of pause. After decades of rushing, caring for everyone else, and living in survival mode, I finally stepped into a season where I could slow down and breathe. I can enjoy my children, my grandchildren, my husband, and the life I worked so hard to build. For the first time, I feel present in my own story.

Strength Forged in the Quiet

I spent years in a life that demanded constant resilience, and it left me exhausted and unwell. Starting over in my forties was terrifying. Standing in a bare kitchen with one plate and one fork, building a home on my own for the first time, revealed a strength I did not know I had.

During one of the hardest seasons of my life, I went through a long stretch of physical and emotional healing. My children were grown and living their own adult lives, yet they showed up for me in ways that reflected who they had become.

My daughter, independent and steady since birth, offered calm presence and emotional grounding. She has always carried a caretaker’s heart, and during that season her steadiness anchored me when everything felt uncertain.

My son expressed his love through strength and humor. He stepped in to do the hard things, the heavy lifting, and the practical tasks that required effort and willingness. He brought laughter into moments that felt unbearably heavy.

Both of my children supported me in ways shaped by who they are, one through quiet steadiness and the other through strength and laughter. Their care helped me find my footing again, and my gratitude for them runs deeper than words can fully capture. Now they have families of their own, loving and attentive partners who married people with those same qualities. Together they are raising babies who are surrounded by gentle, present, deeply caring parents.

A Different Kind of Love

When I met Ken in 2019, everything shifted once more. He showed me what partnership truly feels like, two people sharing responsibility, communicating openly, and caring for each other with intention. With him, I learned that love can be expressed through respect, consistency, and showing up for one another every day.

Ken taught me that a marriage can be built on gentleness, honesty, and teamwork. He showed me what it means to be supported, valued, and cared for in ways that feel steady and real. With him beside me, I found the courage to rebuild, to rest, and to imagine a life where I did not have to carry everything alone. He is a true partner, someone who stands with me, not behind me or in front of me, but right beside me.

A Path Built with Intention

As life settled into something steady and safe, I began shaping the professional path I wanted for myself. I became a certified wedding coordinator in 2020 after years of planning events for businesses, families, and community gatherings. Organizing celebrations had always come naturally to me, and stepping into the wedding industry felt like a continuation of the care and intention I had learned through my own life.

I also became an ordained minister, originally out of necessity, which has allowed me to support couples in meaningful ways when their day calls for it. These experiences, layered with everything I had walked through personally, taught me how to create moments that feel steady, beautiful, and thoughtfully held.

Two Traditions, One Table

My story is shaped by two distinct heritages. My father’s family carries deep American roots here in Oklahoma, tracing back to historic leaders within both the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations.

On my mother’s side, I am a first generation American. She came to the United States from Germany, leaving behind a family marked by generations of turmoil, war, and hardship across Pomerania, Lübtheen, and Böblingen. Their quiet endurance is a significant part of the strength I carry today.

At The Belgian Press, these two worlds meet, classic American warmth and history intertwined with the intentional, slow paced art of European patisserie.

Crafted with Intention

Every warm Belgian waffle, delicate French crepe, daily small batch pastry, and crafted beverage is built on European techniques and carefully learned skills. Everything is prepared fresh in small batches using wholesome ingredients and genuine care. Our sauces, compotes, creams, curds, custards, and doughs are made entirely in house.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is premade. Watching a guest take that first bite and smile reminds me that this is more than a heritage bakery trailer. It is a labor of love, a reflection of where I come from, and the beginning of my favorite chapter yet.

The Dream Already in Motion

One day, The Belgian Press will grow into a larger space, still warm, still European, still intentional, a quiet place for the community to gather, rest, and feel cared for. Even now, in my little trailer with covered outdoor seating, I am already living that dream.

Because I did it. I got past every hurdle. I became the woman I always hoped I could be. And I am just getting started.
